Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
Student Leadership
At Baulkham Hills High School, we encourage students to be involved in a range of student-led extra-curricular activities which enable them to make new friends with similar interest areas whilst demonstrating and developing their socio-emotional potential. Leadership groups include the Prefect team, Student Representative Council (SRC), Outreach and Leo Club.
Students can develop their leadership skills by becoming a Peer Support leader in Year 10, being involved in the Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum in Year 11, cadets in Year 7-12 or leading their own club or interest area at lunchtime coordinated via the school student leadership program. Other opportunities for students to develop their leadership capabilities include debating, public speaking, sporting activities and drama-based activities such as the school musical.
Students are introduced to the broad range of leadership teams and clubs at the Leadership Fair held at the beginning of Term 1 each year. They may also engage with programs such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, which encourages the development of initiative and responsibility.
Multicultural Food Fair
The P&C proudly hosts the Multicultural Food Fair, the premier community event of the year. This celebration offers a wonderful opportunity to embrace and honour the vibrant multicultural diversity that enriches our school community. Visitors can enjoy a variety of food stalls run by parents, featuring delicious cuisines such as Chinese, Korean BBQ, Sri Lankan, and Indian. Additionally, a diverse and dynamic lineup of performances by students and external groups captivates and entertains all who attend, sharing their talent and celebrating our cultural heritage. It’s a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere where everyone; families, students, staff and friends, can come together to connect, celebrate and enjoy, while also reflecting our school’s values.
Library
The library has recently undergone a transformation based on feedback from student, staff and parents. By incorporating a range of areas for quiet reading, collaborative work and flexible larger group activities, the library is an energetic and vibrant, innovative space for learning and social interaction.
Earlier this year, the "Write a Book in a Day" event brought together 90 students from Years 7 to 10. This exciting challenge fostered students’ teamwork and collaboration, encouraging them to delegate roles effectively while honing their writing and illustration skills within a set framework. Additionally, the event served a meaningful purpose by raising funds for the Kid’s Cancer Project.
