Community involvement
Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.
Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)
The Parents & Citizens Association (P&C) at our school is a volunteer-based group made up of parents, carers, staff and school community members committed to supporting and enhancing our school environment. Their aim is to work closely with the school leadership and community to promote the interests of our students, to foster a strong school community spirit, and to contribute to the growth, wellbeing and success of our school.
Some of the key ways they contribute to the school include:
- Hosting the annual Multicultural Food Fair to bring families, staff and students together, celebrate cultural diversity and raise funds for school projects.
- Organising the welcome-tea for Year 7 students and families, helping to build connections as new students join our school community.
- Celebrating our Year 12 graduates by providing a special event where parents, families, staff and students honour their achievement.
- Coordinating working bees around school to support grounds, facilities and community engagement.
- Funding and supporting school-wide projects such as the science labs, wellbeing hub, main library, and various school clubs.
- Working in partnership with the school through community building initiatives and grant funding (e.g., Community Building Partnership funding) to enhance resources, facilities and opportunities.
- Participating in merit-selection panels, and providing parent representation in school decision-making, to ensure the voice of our families is part of important processes.
The P&C values parental involvement: every contribution of time, ideas or enthusiasm strengthens our school and helps ensure our children have the best opportunities possible. They warmly welcome new members, volunteers and helpers—whether you’d like to assist at an event, participate in a fundraising activity or simply join a meeting and share your thoughts.
P&C meetings
Our P&C meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of the month starting at 7.30pm in the school library. For more information about the P&C, please email the P&C on BhhsPandC@hotmail.com.
